**Your Opportunity**
Your role as a mid-level Ecologist will be to lead delivery and task management of ecological planning and ecosystem restoration projects. In this role, you will provide task management for ecological consulting and restoration contracting projects, assist with staff training and development, and support business development opportunities. You will also write reports, develop plans, and implement steps to successfully complete projects. This position can be located in any of Stantec’s offices located in Kentucky, Illinois, or Indiana.

**Your Key Responsibilities**
* Conduct ecological evaluation field work to support development of natural resources management planning documents
* Conduct functional wetland and/or stream assessments and jurisdictional determinations
* Lead and conduct invasive species treatment applications to support monitoring and maintenance of stream and wetland mitigation projects
* Manage tasks and projects according to approved scopes of work, and deliver quality reports on schedule and within budget
* Contribute to and lead business development activities, including proposals, pre-qualifications, and relationship building with existing and prospective clients
* Interact and interface with clients, agencies and other project stakeholders
* Develop work plans and cost estimates with colleagues as well as contract document preparation
* Participate in Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) Policies, Procedures, Standards and Guidelines in the execution of all work
* Successfully complete work as part of a multi-disciplined team that may include a broad range of technical disciplines such as civil/water resources engineers, environmental scientists, landscape architects, biologists, planners, GIS specialists and others
* Assist in analyzing current and emerging technical issues, and implementing actions to proactively address market, business, regulatory, and/or economic issues
* Assist with supervision, training, technical direction and mentoring to more junior staff
* Conduct peer reviews of routine and moderately complex work products developed by colleagues
**Your Capabilities and Credentials**
* Skilled in communications and technical information exchange with clients, engineers and scientists, government regulators and agencies, academia, as well as non-technical communication to the public
* Strong knowledge of the ecology and natural communities of the Ohio Valley and ability to develop knowledge base in the Great Lakes Region
* Disciplined approach to project execution and technical excellence
* Certified aquatic pesticide applicator or the ability to become certified within 6-months of date of hire (not required, but encouraged)
* Ability to provide written and verbal direction on project delivery
* Shows leadership in striving to continuously improve technical performance
* Proficient in and consistently demonstrates and promotes policies and procedures for HSSE, including client-specific training (if applicable)
* Quality skills in technical writing
* Builds and maintains productive professional and personal networking relationships
* Good driving record and valid driver’s license required
* At least six years of experience successfully executing technical aspects of medium to complex projects
* May require post-employment drug testing based on client needs
**Education and Experience**
* Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, or related field
* Minimum 7 years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education (e.g., advanced degree) and experience
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

**Pay Range:**
* Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD & Various CA, NJ Areas - Min Salary $ 78,000.00 - Max Salary $ 113,200.00
**Pay Transparency:** In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
