OVERVIEW:  Pratt Miller is looking for a qualified candidate for a Quality Technician position to perform inspections, reverse engineering, and other measurements in support of programs throughout our product development lifecycle from prototype through low-volume production in an ISO 9001 certified engineering and manufacturing environment. A successful Quality Technician will work with the manufacturing and engineering teams to provide the data needed to support their job functions. In addition to the internal team, this position will interact with suppliers to communicate quality issues.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & SKILLS:

Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Dimensional inspection of parts to engineering drawings and/or CAD modelsCreation of ballooned engineering drawings and inspection report templatesCreate and maintain inspection records and other required documentationExamine incoming parts and documentation to confirm correct specifications and established standards are metInterface internally and with suppliers to give feedback on part quality issuesPart numbering and serializationReverse engineering measurementNon-destructive testing of parts (magnetic particle and dye penetrant methods)Cosmetic evaluation of partsCommunicate in a professional manner, both verbally and writtenProficient with Windows based computers and MS software such as Teams, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and WordAble to read and interpret engineering drawings including GD&T symbolsAble to perform in a dynamic and fast paced environment

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of a High School diploma or GED equivalent required2+ years of work experience in manufacturing environment in quality/inspection or as machine tool operatorExperience with using micrometers, calipers, bore gages, height gauges, Faro arms and other metrology equipment; CAD based measurement experience is a plusExperience with software such as Faro CAM2, PolyWorks, Zeiss Calypso, InspectionXpert or similar programs a plusExperience working with common steel and aluminum alloys, as well as carbon fiber componentsSolid foundational knowledge of mechanical systems and manufacturing processesExperience with basic lathe and mill operations requiredExperience with laser parts marking and engraving a plus

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Position requires occasional moderate physical activityMoving and maneuvering heavy objects may be required at times

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

6:30 AM start time, Monday-Friday40-hour standard work week with paid overtimeMust be flexible with schedule to accommodate fixed deadlines, working longer hours, Saturdays, and/or Sundays as required

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Combination of quality lab and manufacturing areasPeriodic travel may be required between facilitiesStress may occur periodically

This position will require lawful access to ITAR/EAR controlled information and employees in this role will need to meet those requirements. Requirements include US Citizenship, US Permanent Resident or ability to meet licensure requirements.
