This full-time opportunity is in the Microbiology Department of Clinical Pathology Laboratories (CPL) in Austin, Texas. We are seeking an entry-level team member to work on first shift (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM) and is available to work weekends.
In This Role, You Will:
Perform moderate to high-complexity microbiology testing on clinical specimens such as urine, blood, sputum, wounds, and body fluids
Analyze, review, and report microbiology test results, ensuring timely communication of critical findings
Work in a fast-paced laboratory environment handling biological and chemical hazards
Recognize and troubleshoot issues or unexpected results, implementing corrective actions effectively
Identify when corrective action is necessary and implement effective solutions
Promote safety, compliance, and quality control within the lab
What We’re Looking For:
Bachelor degree or higher in a chemical, biological, or medical science
Strong reading, writing, and analytical skills
A willingness to learn new techniques and technologies, with enthusiasm for continuous professional development
Proficiency in operating general laboratory equipment, including telephones, computers, automated analyzers, centrifuges, microscopes, manual and automated pipettes, and audible alarms
Bonus Points If You Have:
Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), or equivalent
Hands-on experience in microbiology
Clinical laboratory training or experience in moderate to high-complexity testing
