We are seeking a dedicated Microbiology Technician with a strong understanding of essential microbiological skills to perform routine activities, including environmental monitoring and utilities testing. The role requires proficiency in classical microbiological methods for microorganism identification, validation activities, and GMP documentation. You will be responsible for data analysis and entry using Microbiology Information Management Systems (MIMS) and ensure compliance with quality systems and safety procedures.
Responsibilities
+ Conduct environmental monitoring using active/passive air sampling and surface sampling methods to detect bacteria and fungi.
+ Utilize CliMet air sampling methods to detect total particulates and trend data for anomaly detection and microflora characterization.
+ Perform utilities testing on city water, pre-treat water, clean steam, and Water for Injection for microbial count and endotoxins presence.
+ Test nitrogen and process air for microbial count and particulates.
+ Identify microorganisms using classical microbiological methods.
+ Conduct validation activities, including biological indicator recovery and endotoxin challenge vial testing.
+ Document test results and conclusions in a GMP-compliant manner and ensure completion of test forms before submission for approval.
+ Perform laboratory activities safely by observing proper procedures and reporting incidents that threaten laboratory safety.
Essential Skills
+ Minimum 1 year of experience in clinical, academic, or industrial/pharmaceutical microbiology laboratories.
+ Experience in microbiological assays and testing.
+ Proficiency in Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ Experience with SOPs and documentation.
+ Ability to use a respirator and work with microorganisms and hot liquids.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Degree in microbiology, biological sciences, or related field of study.
+ Experience in environmental monitoring and trending.
+ Experience in testing utilities.
+ Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
+ Proficiency in computer skills, including spreadsheets and databases.
+ Interpersonal and team-oriented skills.
Work Environment
The role is set in a pharmaceutical lab with a cleanroom, fostering a team-oriented environment. The position requires 40 hours of work per week. Initial training is conducted Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. Upon completion of training, candidates will work either Sunday to Wednesday or Wednesday to Saturday from 6:30 AM to 5:30 PM.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $29.00 - $29.00/hr.
