Microbiologist I Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Microbiologist I to join our Quality Control team, supporting our laboratory in a manufacturing setting. The role involves conducting routine microbiological lab testing, ensuring accurate and timely recording of test results into the business integrated module, and leveraging lab reference materials for testing information. Responsibilities + Follow, update, and review quality control lab documentation. + Perform necessary sampling of the facilities and lab areas following established QC protocols. + Conduct microbiology testing of raw materials, intermediate and final products for release to production in a timely and accurate manner. + Interpret results of microbiological testing and document results accurately and promptly. + Troubleshoot QC testing for non-conforming products. + Participate in contamination troubleshooting teams. + Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices for the care, handling, and storage of food products and report any known or observed violations to management. Essential Skills + Proficiency in microbiology, laboratory, biology, chemistry, aseptic techniques, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). + Experience with microbiological test methods and the ability to determine specific tests for each raw material or product. + Capability to prepare, culture, and examine samples for microbiological testing. + Competence in performing probiotics enumeration and stability testing. + Skill in preparing product-related microbiology reports for the release of manufactured products. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Minimum of an associate degree in biology, biotechnology, microbiology, or equivalent. + 1-2 years of related work experience is preferred. Work Environment The role requires working in a clean room environment for short periods and handling hazardous materials, including dry ice and gel staining solutions. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rochester, New York. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr.
