Job Description
The Quality Micro Technician will oversee daily operations in the microbiology lab, ensuring compliance with company objectives and regulatory requirements through quantitative and qualitative testing.
ResponsibilitiesCommunicate changes effectively and build commitment to overcome resistance.Balance group and individual responsibilities while contributing to a positive employee relations environment.Maintain knowledge of financial, budget, and operational goals.Evaluate micro-testing results and identify process improvements.Collaborate with Quality and Production Supervisors.Verify micro data and results.Manage and train microbiology analysts.Conduct further testing on positive micro results and follow-ups.Ship lab samples for third-party testing.Handle special orders for customer specifications.Act as plant Chemist and Hygienist and ensure food quality.Perform sample plating per customer requirements.Conduct air, water, and sugar samples plating at prescribed frequency.Maintain proper microbiology records and log results.Pack and send samples as requested by customers.Maintain equipment and inventory for microbiology tests.Issue product releases as instructed by Management.Communicate with suppliers to resolve quality issues.Report food safety and quality problems to Plant Management.Provide planning, organizing, and prioritizing project skills.Essential SkillsExperience in microbiology and laboratory environments.Proficiency in RealSPC is preferred.Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions.Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.Excellent communication and written skills.Self-starter with the ability to work independently.Teamwork and collaborative skills.Understanding of units of measure and information recording.Good safety knowledge and record.Diplomacy and conflict resolution skills.Experience with best practices and quality standards.Proficiency in Microsoft Office.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor's degree in a relevant field.Experience with food safety, quality standards, and record management.Knowledge of assay, GLP, and microbiology laboratory procedures.Skill in plating, work orders, action reports, and calibration.Aseptic technique and sterilization knowledge.Experience with microbial and autoclave processes.Media preparation and sample preparation skills.Work Environment
The work environment involves continuous standing or walking with moderate visual/sensory attention. Tasks are repetitive with pronounced pressure from deadlines, production quotas, and accuracy demands.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
