Job Title: MicrobiologistJob Description This role involves overseeing laboratory investigations and performing special testing in an OTC drug manufacturing facility. You will manage daily activities in the microbiological laboratory and handle additional tasks assigned by the QC Laboratory leadership. Responsibilities + Write microbiological laboratory investigations. + Generate and interpret microbiological monthly and annual trend reports. + Perform microbiological testing on raw materials, in-process (Bulk), and Finished Goods. + Conduct Preservative Efficacy Testing (PET), gram staining, growth promotion testing, media preparation (as applicable), and water and environmental sampling and testing. + Execute microbial method transfers, validations, and other engineering studies related to microbiology. + Review laboratory logbooks and documentation for compliance and completeness. + Train new personnel and ensure adherence to established procedures. + Perform additional tasks assigned by the Quality Control Manager to support departmental goals. Essential Skills + Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology or Biology. + Experience in Pharmaceuticals or Food & Beverage testing. + Working knowledge of cGMPs as applicable to laboratory environments. + Extensive experience with identification and out-of-specification investigations. + Excellent written and verbal communication skills. + High degree of problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis. + Knowledge of statistics. + Excellent Document Control skills. + Ability to lead a staff of up to five individuals on a shift. + Ability to work off-shift and weekend hours. + Ability to lift approximately 50 pounds. Additional Skills & Qualifications + AA Degree with 6 years of experience, BS Degree with 4 years of experience, or MS Degree with 2 years of experience in an OTC Manufacturing laboratory. Work Environment The work environment involves manufacturing sunscreen/sun care products in an OTC setting. The role requires adherence to cGMP standards and may involve working off-shift and weekend hours. The ability to lift approximately 50 pounds is necessary.
