Lakewood Department: Long Term Care Unit Position is located: Lakewood Continuous Care Center Work Type: Full Time Hours Per Week: 40.00 Work Schedule: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Summary: The nurse manager is a licensed nurse who is responsible for the organization and administration of the 48-bed long term care unit. Responsibilities: 1.Consults with and advises/informs the DON concerning resident care and administrative issues. Keeps the DON informed of unit activities. 2.Assists the DON as assigned and directed in administration of all aspects of the nursing department. 3.Gives counsel and guidance to Charge Nurse concerning unit management and resident care. 4.Participates in actual resident care when the situation requires. 5.Promotes good internal and interdepartmental relations and public relations. 6.Investigates new products, equipment, and techniques as directed and makes recommendations. 7.Monitors staffing schedules and provides for emergency coverage. 8.Assists in establishing lines of authority and responsibility for defining the duties of nursing service personnel, consistent with good administrative practices to ensure that department objectives are met. 9.Ensures compliance with established state, and federal regulations. 10.Works closely with other administrative team to ensure management coverage as well as effective implementation of administrative decisions. 11.Plans, implements, evaluates employee orientation program. 12.Performs other duties as assigned by the Administrator or Director of Nursing. 13.Reviews regularly all high-risk areas/processes (such as medication ordering, receiving, administering, securing, reconciling medications including narcotics). 14.Periodically reviews all policies and procedures and job descriptions, etc. and makes recommendations for revisions. 15.Required participation in Leadership Development Institute (LDI) Individual Development Plan (IDP) and Leader Evaluation Manager (LEM) Other Information: Education Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. Must hold a Current, valid Maine Nursing License (LPN or RN). Experience Must have, as a minimum, one year of experience as a nursing supervisor in a hospital or long-term care facility. Credentials + Required Licensed Practical Nurse Education + Required High School Diploma/General Educational Development (GED)Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
