Metrologist/CMM Programmer
Job Purpose
Metrologists are specialists in the science of measurement. They utilize measurement tools to
compare product measurements to product specifications, which are summarized and reported. As
a metrologist, you will develop measurement methods and perform inspections on all items
required to produce our customer’s products.
Primary Responsibilities
Develop and modify fixtures and programs for CMM and Optical CMM
Perform CMM Programming Online and Offline
Work with engineers in the development and validation of robust measurement methods and
test procedures, which includes GD&T interpretations
Solve measurement system problems
Develops and implements continuous improvement solutions related to measurement
systems
Completes and maintains all necessary documentation with a goal for 100% accuracy
Performs intermediate checks of equipment to confirm calibration before use
Works with others to perform verification checks on failures
Maintains clean working environment in Quality Lab
Conduct Test Method Development and Validation activities, initiate inspection plans for
new/revised products
Perform statistical analysis of inspection data, process characterization, DOE results, ANOVA,
Capability Analysis
Perform CMM measurement system analysis (MSA), Bias, Linearity, and Resolution studies
Know, understand, and follow pertinent company/plant procedures, rules, and policies. Attend
trainings, as required
Communicate effectively with personnel from all departments, vendors, and customers as
necessary
Perform round-robin customer inspections
Perform other duties as assigned
Assist in the training of entry level employees regarding measurement methods and tools
Education and Experience
HS Diploma or Equivalent; 2 year Technical Degree in Quality or related field desired
Skilled in CMM programming
Skilled in FAI, PPAP, Capability Studies and FMEA's
Skilled in performing measurements with force gages, test fixtures and inspection
equipment (e.g. CMM’s, Calipers, Micrometers, etc...)
Skilled at interpreting complex engineering drawings, including GD&T, and CAD models
