Install and maintain self-contained electric meters energized up to 240 volts in the shop and on customer premises.

Job Description

Residency Requirements: Successful candidates will reside within 30 miles driving distance under normal driving conditions to the Texarkana Service Center

Meter Electrician C

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Read meters as required for field order and on schedule for cycle billingInstall, remove, change disconnect, and reconnect meters.

Test singlephase, network, and polyphase self-contained meter for proper operation and accuracyProgram meters

Perform Credit and Collections related order including disconnect and reconnect for non-payment

Investigate irregular usageInvestigate energy diversion

Repair meters, meter sockets, and meter enclosures

Order, receive, ship, store, and inventory meter and associated equipment

Investigate self-contained service power quality problems, install event recorders, neutral testers, and produce reports

Perform work from ladders and elevated platforms

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education requirements are listed below:Associates Degree in electrical/electronic technology

Required License(s)/Certification(s) are listed below:State Driver's License

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Within 24 months of employment, successfully complete the Company's training and qualification program for this position including: classroom instruction; written examination; job mentoring; and job performance demonstrations. Work overtime as needed including extended daily shifts and weekends. Work late shifts as needed. Work independently under semi-direct supervision in a safe-efficient, and productive manner Proficiently use computers and applications related to this position. Effectively communicate with other employees, customer, and the general public in a courteous and appropriate manner.

Promote a positive image of the Company to customer and the general public. Comply with all aspects of the AEP Corporate Code of Conduct. Perform all duties of lower classifications as requiredInstall and maintain transformer rated meters and instrument transformersInstall and maintain external data recorders and associated equipmentInstall and maintain pulse meters, isolation relays, and associated equipmentTest self-contained and transformer rated meters for proper operation and accuracyTest instrument transformers for proper operation and accuracyInvestigate transformer rated service power quality problems, install event recorders and produce reportsVisually inspect distribution system capacitors, regulators, reclosers, Alternate Feed Switches, and Line Voltage MonitorsDisconnect and reconnect secondary services at the point of attachmentReplace meter sockets and enclosures

Perform all duties of lower classifications as requiredInstall, maintain, and test intra-change, inter-change, and generating plant meters, instrument transformers, and associated equipmentInstall, maintain, and test satellite, land line, ethernet, and other remote metering and associated equipmentInstall, maintain and test loss compensated metering and associated equipmentInstall, maintain, test, and operate distribution system capacitors, regulators, reclosers, Alternate Feed Switches, and Line Voltage MonitorsInstall and maintain distribution grid control devices and automated metering and distribution grid network infrastructureDisconnect and reconnect secondary and primary services at the pole or transformer and replace primary fuses where applicablePerform a variety of special tests and inspections related to customer bill complaints, inquiries, and energy diversion investigations. Prepare related reportsAssist with and perform distribution studies including inspection of distribution equipment, circuits, analysis, and preparing reports.Operate and perform work from aerial lift devices.Develop and provide employee training.

$33.84-34.96 USD
