Element has an opportunity for a Metallurgical Test Technician in our Wixom, MI lab, to safely perform work in accordance with established SOP and QA procedures in conducting Material and Metallurgical Testing within the laboratory.
Responsibilities Preparation of test samples by sectioning with precision abrasive saws and mounting/grinding/polishing of specimensHardness testing: Vickers and KnoopMacro and micro photographyBasic metallurgical testing: coating thickness, case depth, image analysis, etcSummarizes test results using basic mathematical calculations and data reductionsTesting is conducted on many alloys including aluminum, steel,s stainless steel, titanium, copper, etc.Maintain related test equipment, tools and machinery in good working condition Skills / Qualifications 1-2 years in the TIC sector is preferred, but not requiredAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manualsAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardizationAbility to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometryExperience in interpreting testing procedures and requirementsProficiency in Microsoft ApplicationsAbility to remain calm when faced with pressure related to deadlines and multiple priorities. Well-developed oral and written communication skills to meet a variety of communication needs
