Metallurgical Engineer

We are looking for a Metallurgy Engineer to join our team, reporting to the Production Manager to coordinate the metallurgical processes related to the manufacturing of copper conductors including energy,  automotive and elevators cables, with a focus on operational excellence (output in volume, OEE, material efficiency, OVC, labor efficiency; number of machine breakdowns and wire ruptures), product quality, development of new processes, and continuous improvement, ensuring alignment with Prysmian's global standards in safety, sustainability and innovation.

Main Responsibilities:

Monitor the quality of received materials (Prysmian and third parties);• Guide the metallurgical operator teams on the services to be performed, machine and equipment operations, proper use of raw materials and inputs to meet production and productivity goals;Prepare reports regarding the activities developed in the metallurgy area, general production data and statistical data on the production cycle, operational and administrative activities;Manage Human Resources to maintain the balance of the organizational climate, with interrelationship with the Industrial HR Department, as well as update individual matrices of the career plan in the technical and machines factors, and conduct periodic performance evaluations and feedback for subordinates;Ensure the execution of the Production Plans provided by PCP and ensure compliance with the Manufacturing Sheets (process parameters, speed, etc.), making adjustments when necessary;Ensure that the HSE tasks delegated to the factory are carried out correctly and in compliance with HSE legislation;Coordinate the copper and aluminum drawing processes in the Energy and Automotive factories, including tools maintenance plan (KRIB), quality control of drawing oil solutions and annealing, control of the physicochemical properties of products, etc..Lead continuous improvement projects in the Metallurgy area (efficiency, loss reduction, metal quality) in alignment with Prysmian's industrial strategy;Ensure compliance of metallurgical processes with technical standards, internal standards, and customer requirements;Supervise the technical team in the area, promoting skills development and a safety culture;Support the development of new products and metallurgical solutions in conjunction with R&D;Conduct failure analyses, testing, and monitoring of shop floor and laboratory trials;Work in partnership with the areas of Production, Quality, Supply Chain, and Global Engineering to ensure excellence in metallurgical processes;Control KPIs of the area (drawing efficiency, raw material consumption, metal losses, etc.) and propose corrective/preventive actions;Support the plant supervisory team when needed (absences, vacations, etc.).

Who are we looking for?

Bachelor’s degree in metallurgical engineering or Materials EngineeringIntermediate/advanced English and Spanish (for interaction with global teams).Knowledge of Metal drawing, physicochemical properties of conductors, heat treatment, and metallographic analysis.Good manufacturing practices, quality, and process control.Lean tools, Six Sigma, and management systems (SAP is a plus);Reading and interpretation of standards (ABNT, ASTM, IEC, etc.).

Knowledge in industrial metallurgical processes, preferably in cable, conductor or metallurgy industries.

Experience in technical leadership roles and team coordination.
