Job Description
Design and develop complex metal stamping tools, focusing on progressive dies, transfer dies, and line dies. Apply advanced tool forming techniques to ensure optimal material flow and part quality. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product engineering, manufacturing, and quality to ensure tooling meets all performance and production requirements. Lead design reviews and mentor junior designers and toolmakers. Analyze part prints and specifications to determine the most effective tooling concepts and layouts. Create and maintain detailed 3D models, 2D drawings, BOMs, and documentation using CAD software. Support tool build, tryout, and troubleshooting activities on the shop floor. Drive continuous improvement in tool design for manufacturability, durability, and cost-effectiveness.
ResponsibilitiesDesigns or redesigns tools, jigs, dies, and fixtures to gain better efficiencies.Keep records of all tools, jigs, dies, and fixture changes using current engineering documentation practices.Responsible for all tool, jig, die, and fixture drawings, ensuring their accuracy and completeness.Prepare detailed tool, jig, dies, and fixture drawings according to assignment.Maintain and organize the drawing files for tools, jigs, dies, and fixtures in a filing cabinet for reference.Essential SkillsComprehensive knowledge of metal stamping and die systems.Proven experience designing and optimizing progressive, transfer, and line dies for high-volume metal stamping operations.Expertise in tool forming techniques.Continuous improvement mindset focused on cost, quality, and tool longevity.Proficiency in SolidWorks, CAD, fixture design, jig, GD&T, and progressive die.Additional Skills & QualificationsMinimum 7 years of experience in tool and die design with a strong emphasis on metal stamping and progressive die systems.Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and 2D drafting.Strong understanding of tool forming principles, die construction, and stamping processes.Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Strong communication and project management skills.Work Environment
The Tooling Department operates in a precision-driven, collaborative, and safety-focused manufacturing environment.
