NEW JOB ALERT – CONTRACT – HEAD OF COMMISSIONING & MARKET DEVELOPMENT FOR COMMUNITY AND HOUSING

A local authority in London is seeking an experienced strategic leader to take on the role of Head of Commissioning & Market Development. This is a high-impact interim position overseeing commissioning, procurement, and market shaping across Adult Social Care, Housing, and Libraries – driving forward transformation, integration, and improved outcomes for residents.

📍 MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE:

Leading commissioning and market development in local government or related public services Managing large-scale contracts and procurement processes Overseeing multidisciplinary teams (contracts, brokerage, BI, financial assessments) Delivering cost efficiencies, service transformation, and resident-focused outcomes Working collaboratively with NHS, voluntary sector, and internal senior stakeholders Applying Care Act duties and public procurement law in a strategic commissioning context

📍 ESSENTIALS:

Strong strategic thinking and commercial insight Leadership experience in politically sensitive, fast-paced environments Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills Proven ability to improve contract performance and drive innovation Financial oversight of commissioning budgets (£40m+) Ready to hit the ground running in a short-term interim role

📍 Location: London / Hybrid (3 days on-site in South London)

📍 Rate: £600 per day

📍 IR35: Inside IR35

📍 Contract Length: 3 months initially (Possibility of extension)
