Situated on our lush campus in Oakland, we provide assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing and rehabilitation services to meet a variety of healthcare needs. Our Chaplains lead by example, help drive a positive culture, and are responsible for providing services of worship, counsel, religious text study, and offer spiritual support and advice to a diverse population of senior adults living independently,  in assisted living, or in a health care center.


Our Chaplains:



Provide spiritual support and pastoral care to the residents/families, recognizing, respecting and addressing the diversity of spiritual beliefs and practices within the community. Provide avenues for residents to explore and strengthen their spiritual wellness in all areas . Provide moral and spiritual support for residents and families during the end-of-life transition period, to honor residents who have died and bereavement support as they deal with their collective loss. Participate with interdisciplinary teams to develop holistic care and support for residents, especially as they require higher levels of care. Develop budget for needed supplies, events, activities, and services. Develop community contacts in order to refer residents and staff (when requested) regarding counseling, grief support, or other special needs (AA, LGBTQ, etc.) Perform other duties as assigned or may be necessary in an organization having overlapping roles and responsibilities.

 

What you need to succeed:

 

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Divinity preferred, or comparable degree/ministry certification.  Education as ordained clergy in good standing with a recognized faith tradition and show endorsement.  Knowledge, experience, and respect for all faiths that may be practiced in community. Four units of CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education) highly preferred. Ability to continue education and vocational training in an ongoing manner.  Willing and able to assist residents of all faiths in meeting their spiritual needs.  Pastoral, counseling, and advising skills, with training and experience in geriatrics preferred.  Ability to engage with diverse populations.
