Merchant Financials Lead - Global Ops
**About the role** Uber is redefining the future of Retail by building the world’s most dynamic marketplace for the on-demand delivery of local commerce. As part of the Retail Global Operations team, you’ll play a critical role in shaping how our merchant partners succeed on the Uber platform—helping them grow their businesses and deliver seamless experiences to customers. In this role, you will lead high-impact, cross-functional initiatives that enhance the end-to-end merchant experience—particularly around financial processes including payments and billing flows with our partners. You’ll act as a strategic advisor and operator, ensuring our systems and products are designed to support scalable, healthy financial relationships with merchants, laying the foundation for long-term growth and trust. You will work closely with regional operations and commercial teams across the globe, while also influencing product development, legal, and finance stakeholders. Your work will directly impact the quality and reliability of our financial infrastructure and reporting capabilities, driving innovation and continuous improvement across the business. If you’re passionate about transforming merchant experiences at scale and working on some of the most complex and critical problems in global commerce, we’d love to hear from you. **What you’ll do** - Partner with senior leaders to define the long-term vision for merchant platforms for the retail business, and lead in delivering scalable and merchant-centric solutions - Champion Uber’s merchant financial solutions, representing merchant needs across product and engineering teams and serving as the business lead on company-wide initiatives to enhance merchant payments and billing infrastructure - Develop and drive strategic recommendations, translating analytical insights into clear, actionable plans for leadership and cross-functional teams to improve merchant-facing systems - Lead project execution and oversee cross-functional implementation of long-term improvements to merchant experience, data systems, and platform workflows with tech teams across Uber platforms - Own the relationship with product teams, ensuring all merchant financial elements are accurately defined, protected, and integrated into new features - Continuously identify gaps and opportunities to enhance Uber’s solutions that support merchant partners - Conduct complex, high-impact analysis, investigating across data systems, stakeholders, and tools to improve operational excellence - Manage stakeholders and alignment, coordinating across Product, Engineering, Legal, Operations, and Commercial teams to ensure merchant-focused financial solutions are prioritized and executed effectively **What you’ll need** - Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, or a related field - 7+ years of experience in strategy, fintech, operations, finance, consulting, or a related field - Experience owning and delivering complex, cross-functional projects or programs with high business impact - Excellent executive communication skills in English (written and verbal), with the ability to engage and drive consensus across leaders and technical/non-technical audiences - Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills - Ability to translate complex problems into clear, concise, and practical solutions, with strong structure and attention to detail - Strong stakeholder management skills - Intermediate/advanced skills in SQL, Excel/Google Sheets, and data analysis **Bonus points** - Master’s degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, or a related field - Experience in fintech or fast-growing tech environments - Python skills and experience automating workflows Uber's mission is to reimagine the way the world moves for the better.
