Job Overview:

The Mental Health Screener will be responsible for screening referrals for Psychological and Psychiatric services for all Children's Specialized Hospital locations. The Screener interviews referral sources, answers questions, and obtains information to assist in determining the need for services

Qualifications:

Required:

Masters degree in psychology or related field, such as social workExcellent communication, interpersonal skills, customer service, and organizational skillsFamiliarity and comfort with electronic medical records and MS Office suite

Preferred:

Familiarity and knowledge of childhood diagnoses, DSM 5, and psychological testing Knowledge of community resourcesSpecial consideration given to candidates who are bilingual in English and Spanish

Scheduling Requirements:

Varied schedule, based on business needs Per Diem

Essential Functions:

Ability to work effectively as a team member in a hospital setting committed to providing total quality management of its patient populationAbility to relate therapeutically with families, display cultural sensitivity, and strong sense of empathyPerforms other duties as assigned by Psychology SupervisorScreens referrals for mental health service, determining severity and what types of services are neededAssists with making referrals to community mental health programs and acute psychiatric services, as neededInitiates scheduling process to schedule psychology and psychiatry servicesFormulates and manages group therapy scheduling process
