General Statement Museum of the Rockies (MOR) is a division of MSU, a 501©(3) non-profit organization, a State and Federal repository, a Smithsonian affiliate, and an American Alliance of Museums accredited organization. As an internationally respected research institution, MOR brings global science and regional heritage to life through exhibits, programs, a planetarium, and world-renowned collections.  The Membership Manager supports the business functions of the Develpment and Membership department. Working under the Associate Director of Development and Membership, they are responsible for providing timely and accurate communication with members, managing the membership components of the museum’s database system, and engaging directly with current and prospective museum members. Duties and Responsibilities Membership Strategy and Growth Develop and execute annual membership acquisition and retention, and upgrade strategies to meet revenue goals. Analyze membership trends and data to refine marketing, outreach, pricing, and benefits strategies. Lead targeted membership drives to recruit new members and encourage renewals. Lead the development of a Realty Partner membership program, including the outreach and recruitment of regional real estate agents, collection of agent and program participant information, and the communications with and accurate tracking of participants. Lead the development of a Business Partner membership program, including the outreach and recruitment to the program of area businesses. Manage the day-to-day membership budget, under guidance from the Associate Director of Membership & Development.

Member Relations and Customer Service Serve as the primary point of contact for all membership inquiries, providing excellent customer service. Quickly and accurately manage the processing of new and renewed memberships. Proactively engage with members as a group and individually, both at the museum and at other locations. In coordination with the Fundraising and Special Events Manager, plan and manage member-focused events and special experiences to cultivate loyalty. Actively solicit member feedback and use it to improve offerings and communications. Marketing and Communications Collaborate with the marketing team to create membership collateral, email campaigns, web content, and social media outreach. Ensure consistent and compelling messaging to promote membership benefits and impact. Database and Reporting Manage membership records in the museum’s database system, ensuring accuracy. Generate regular reports on membership performance, demographics, and engagement to guide decision-making. Collaboration and Fundraising Support Work closely with the rest of the Development and Membership team to align membership strategies with broader fundraising and donor cultivation efforts. Support cross-departmental initiatives to integrate membership into educational programs, exhibitions, and community outreach. Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills Associate’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or a related field. Five or more years of experience in membership management, customer relations, or nonprofit development; experience in a museum or cultural institution preferred. Demonstrated ability to collaborate in a team environment, prioritize multiple tasks, and meet deadlines. Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills Proficiency with database CRM systems. The Successful Candidate Will Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously. Creative thinker with a passion for engaging audiences and building community. Data-driven mindset with the ability to analyze trends and generate actionable insights. Have excellent and positive communication skills for interactions with members, donors, and visitors. Maintain confidentiality in handling information related to departmental business due to the sensitive nature of data and financial transactions. Position Special Requirements/Additional Information This full-time position is generally 8 AM to 5 PM, however, occasional departmental events require flexibility to work events both prior to or after regular weekday hours or on the weekend. Must possess a valid driver’s license, an acceptable driving record, and meet all State of Montana requirements to operate State/University vehicles. (If successful candidate possesses a valid out-of-state driver’s license, must obtain a valid Montana driver’s license within 60 days of hire.)
