As a Member Technical Staff 2 - DevEx (Core Data Path) at Nutanix, your role will be to handle customer problems on a day-to-day basis as a Sustaining Engineer. You will be a vital part of our mission to maintain Nutanix's high industry standard in NPS score by providing excellent engineering support to our valued customers. **About the Team**
The DevEx team at Nutanix is a 60-person team located in the US and India. They play a crucial role in maintaining a high NPS score by solving challenging customer problems. The entire company admires their successes, and they have been recognized in recent R&D All Hands. What sets them apart is their commitment to sustaining engineering and their ability to address customer engineering issues efficiently.
This role is located in the San Jose, CA office.
**Your Role**
+ Work as a part of the extended software development team on Software Bugs and Improvements
+ Address customer escalations to Engineering
+ Diagnose and debug deep and insidious issues.
+ Develop automation tools to find bottlenecks and do root cause analysis and corrective action
+ Engage with customers and support when needed to solve production issues
+ Develop a deep understanding of complex distributed systems, and design innovative solutions for customer production issues
+ Work on core data path aka Nutanix distributed file system and scalable distributed storage systems like Cassandra
+ Work closely with development and support teams for providing high quality customer and product experience
+ Program in Linux environment and employ robust software engineering practices to develop and maintain reliable, field-serviceable, and maintainable software components
**What You Will Bring**
+ Bachelors degree ONLY candidate in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
+ 1-4 years of relevant technical experience.
+ Love of programming and rock-solid in one or more languages: C, C++, or Python, ideally for enterprise-quality software.
+ Extensive knowledge of UNIX/Linux or expertise in Windows.
+ Development experience in backup and disaster recovery, file systems, operating systems, database back-ends, distributed systems management preferred
+ Experience working with virtualization technologies like VMware, Hyper-V, Xen. VMware preferred.
+ Familiarity with OS internals, concepts of distributed data management, and design/implementation tradeoffs in building clustered, high- performance, fault-tolerant Distributed Systems software.
+ Strong written, verbal, and collaboration skills. Team player that works well in fast-paced situations and startup environments.

**Work Arrangement**
On Site: This role is based on-site, offering the opportunity to collaborate face-to-face with team members in a dynamic and engaging work environment. Being physically present allows for seamless teamwork and direct access to resources that support your success. Additional team-specific guidance and norms will be provided by your manager.
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $ 145,000 and USD $ 218,000 per year.
However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
