Join our mission-driven team in the Infectious Disease Epidemiology, Prevention & Control (IDEPC)Division of the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH), where you will contribute to protecting, maintaining, and improving the health of Minnesotans!
The purpose of this position is to conduct research to examine, devise and evaluate business processes and procedures to enhance Minnesota Electronic Disease Surveillance System (MEDSS) operations and data quality for all MEDSS users during the process of upgrading the application to a new version.
Working as a MEDSS Informatician, you will:
+ Design, document, and help support development of documentation needed to upgrade the application to improve MEDSS operations.
+ Develop and deliver training and written guidance to meet the needs of MEDSS users and assist with overall MEDSS implementation.
+ Establish and maintain working relationships with internal and external partners.
+ Research topics such as interoperability and health information system data.
+ Create end user testing procedures and help define and document business workflow processes withing MEDSS.
**This position will have the option of teleworking; however, it will be based on the business needs of the unit and is at supervisory discretion.**
**Minimum Qualifications**

Three (3) years of experience in data science, analytics, interoperability, data equity, informatics, business intelligence, artificial intelligence, and data strategy, data modernization, governance and research and:
+ Experience coordinating health informatics or IT-related projects, including planning, timeline development, and stakeholder communication.
+ Experience with public health information systems, especially disease surveillance systems and/or public health and/or health case data messaging.
+ Knowledge of and experience using health information standards such as FHIR and HL7.
+ Experience working with interoperability standards such as HL7 v2/v3, CDA, FHIR, LOINC, SNOMED, and ICD coding.
A degree in a related field such as Informatics, Public Health, Health Services Research, Health Informatics or a closely related field may count towards professional experience as follows: Doctorate = 24 months of experience, master’s degree = 18 months of experience, bachelor's degree = 12 months of experience, associate degree = 6 months of experience.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ A master's degree or certification in health informatics or a closely related field.
+ Understanding of the MEDSS system and the underlying software in the current implementation.
+ Experience with Jira, scrum, sprints, and agile development.
+ Experience with standardized electronic data feeds such as ELR, eCR, and MMGs.
+ Familiar with data lakes, data warehouses, and APIs.
