Responsibilities
Job Summary / Purpose

Transcribes pathology reports, maintains department production and supports department workflow.

Essential Key Job ResponsibilitiesTranscribes all types of Anatomic Pathology reports. Provides gynecological cytology data entry.Demonstrates accuracy, timeliness, attention to detail, and flexibility in order to meet internal and external customer driven departmental goals. Adheres to established prioritization and confidentiality criteria.Effectively and appropriately uses transcription software applications. Uses separate methods to electronically access, retrieve and/or revise reports.Effectively uses all research tools available.Recognizes, interprets and evaluates inconsistencies, discrepancies and inaccuracies in dictation. Appropriately edits or revises reports without altering context or changing the dictation style of the provider dictating. Consults the provider when necessary.Applies basic knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and english rules to transcribe and proofread medical dictation.Works effectively as a team member. Demonstrates cooperation and mutual support to co-workers. Demonstrates an understanding of the medicolegal implications and responsibilities related to transcription and the distribution of patient records.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

High School Diploma

Medical Transcription program OR greater than 2 years transcription experience in an acute care setting

Excellent customer service and communication skills. Ability to function independently, manage time and workload effectively. Good computer skills.
