Your determination to deliver quality and accuracy will improve health outcomes that people and communities depend on – now and in the future.\n\nLocation/Division Specific Information\nOur global Clinical Operations colleagues within our PPD® clinical research services provide end-to-end support for clinical trials from study start up to monitoring through to study close out, across commercial and government contracts. Together, we help clients define and develop clinical programs, minimize delays, and execute high-quality, cost-efficient clinical studies.\n\nDiscover Impactful Work:\nPerforms a wide variety of clinical laboratory analyses including assays that define complicated disorders of the cardiovascular, endocrine, hematological, hemostatic, thrombolytic, and renal systems. Evaluates individual and related laboratory data, recognizes patterns or trends that suggest significance of results\n\nA day in the Life:\nPerforms, reviews, and interprets complex, esoteric, and routine chemical, hematological, coagulation, renal, lipid, and hormonal analyses by manual, automated, and/or microscopic means.\nIntegrates analytical results with specific and highly varied clinical trial protocols to evaluate credibility, appropriateness and accuracy of test results in order to facilitate entry or exclusion of subjects from research programs.\nOperates, maintains, troubleshoots and repairs clinical laboratory equipment, including routine preventative maintenance, calibrations, and safety checks.\nRecognizes and pursues instrument problems and resolutions.\nEvaluates analytical reagents, calibrators, and QC standards to ensure the accuracy of analytical results.\nEvaluates quality control procedures, evaluates results, and implements corrective action when indicated. Assists in carrying out ongoing statistical data analysis to detect trends and problems and undertakes corrective action.\nKeys to Success:\nEducation\nBachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification\n\nExperience\nPrevious experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 0 to 2 years’) or equivalent combination of education, training, & experience.\n\nYears of experience refers to typical years of related experience needed to gain the required knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the job. Years of experience are not to be used as the only determining factor in establishing the job class or making employment selection decisions.\n\nKnowledge, Skills, Abilities\nExcellent critical thinking skills\nGood time management and organizational skills\nAbility to multi-task\nGood written and oral communication skills\nProficiency in Microsoft Office\nAbility to work well in a collaborative team environment\nPhysical Requirements / Work Environment\nWork is performed in a laboratory and/or a clinical environment with exposure to electrical office equipment.\nOccasional drives to site locations, occasional domestic travel.\nExposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms.\nRare exposure to skin and lung irritants, radiation, toxic materials and hazardous waste.\nPersonal protective equipment required such as protective eyewear, garments and gloves.\nExposure to fluctuating and/or extreme temperatures on rare occasions.\nPhysical Requirements:\nAbility to work in an upright and /or stationary position for 6-8 hours per day.\nRepetitive hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists to operate lab equipment.\nOccasional mobility needed.\nOccasional crouching, stooping, with frequent bending and twisting of upper body and neck.\nLight to moderate lifting and carrying (or otherwise moves) objects including luggage and laptop computer with a maximum lift of 15-20 lbs.\nAbility to access and use a variety of computer software developed both in-house and off-the-shelf.\nAbility to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.\nFrequently interacts with others to obtain or relate information to diverse groups.\nWorks independently with little guidance or reliance on oral or written instructions and plans work schedules to meet goals. Requires multiple periods of intense concentration.\nPerforms a wide range of variable tasks as dictated by variable demands and changing conditions with little predictability as to the occurrence. Ability to perform under stress.
