This RN role blends the broad, fast-paced responsibilities of a med-surg nurse with the specialized knowledge required to care for patients with renal impairments. The Med-Surg Renal RN is responsible for managing patient care from admission through discharge, focusing on both acute and chronic kidney issues. This registered nurse is adept at performing detailed assessments, crafting individualized care plans, and executing complex interventions. Strong knowledge of dialysis, fluid and electrolyte imbalances, and pharmacological treatments related to renal health is crucial. This role of Med-Surg Renal RN requires a compassionate nursing professional capable of working effectively within a multidisciplinary team to improve patient outcomes and experience. Proficiency in utilizing electronic health records and outstanding communication skills is essential for educating patients and families about renal health and treatment plans. Safely administer prescribed medications (oral, IV, subcutaneous, intramuscular) and monitor for adverse effects or allergic reactions. + Function as a liaison between patients, families, and the healthcare team to ensure the patient's needs are met. + Provide patient education on their condition, treatment options, and lifestyle adjustments to support recovery and prevent readmission. + Communicate effectively with doctors, specialists, physical therapists, and social workers to develop and adjust care plans.
