Medical Support Assistant (Advanced)
Summary The Greater Los Angeles VA Healthcare System is currently recruiting multiple Advanced Medical Support Assistant positions within the Care in the Community (CITC) Service located at the Sepulveda Ambulatory Care Center, 16111 Plummer St. North Hills, CA 91343 Responsibilities The CITC Advanced MSA works collaboratively with other members of the health care teams to provide a robust interdisciplinary approach to patient care. The ideal candidate resumes should include exceptional skills in customer service, ability to communicate effectively and tactfully using various modalities, ability to work collaboratively in a team based environment, and ability to operate computerized programs to perform functions such as scheduling of appointments. Selected candidates should plan to report to Greater Los Angeles VA Health Care System for fingerprinting and a Physical evaluation. In addition, you will be contacted by various entities within Human Resources to begin all pre-employment processes and must satisfy all condition of employment before a firm offer of employment is made. Care in the Community (CITC). The CITC department is designed in accordance with the Nationally standardized model of patient care that optimizes the delivery of community care to Veterans. Integrated teams (consisting of clinical and administrative staff), perform community care coordination functions to manage key activities that collectively deliver high-quality, timely care to Veterans. Typical duties include but are not limited to: Administrative duties to verify and authorize community care based on eligibility criteria established by the MISSION Act of 2018 Coordinate and prepare the documents necessary to facilitate patient's appointment in the community Contact Veterans to obtain community care provider preferences- Contact the Veterans' preferred community providers to facilitate scheduling Scheduling, canceling, re-scheduling patient's community care appointments- Entering no-show information Monitoring both inpatient and outpatient appointments for areas of responsibility Obtaining medical information from patients Following up on community care appointments to ensure appropriate medical documentation is returned to the VA Ensuring encounter forms are completed in order to obtain appropriate workload credit Processing all emergency and non-emergency transfers to other VA facilities or community private hospitals Ensures that the Interdisciplinary Team setup (including consult category of care) is closely monitored to effectively support the needs of the VA clinics, and make any necessary adjustments. Experience and Education. (1) Experience. Six months experience of clerical, office, customer service, other administrative work that indicates the ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position; OR, (2) Education. Equivalent combination of experience and education are qualifying for entry level for which both education and experience are acceptable. English Language Proficiency: Must be proficient in spoken and written English. Grandfathering Provision. All MSAs employed in VHA in this occupation on the effective date of this qualification standard are considered to have met all qualification requirements for the title, series, and grade held, [which] are [a] part of the basic requirements of the occupation. For employees who do not meet all the basic requirements required in this standard, but who met the qualifications applicable to the position at the time they were appointed to it, the following provisions apply: (1) Such employees may be reassigned, promoted, or [changed to a lower grade] within the occupation. (2) Employees who are appointed on a temporary basis prior to the effective date of the qualification standard may not have their temporary appointment extended or be reappointed, on a temporary or permanent basis, until they fully meet the basic requirements of the standard. (3) If an employee who was converted to [Title] 38 hybrid status under this provision leaves the occupation, the employee loses protected status and must meet the full VA qualification standard requirements in effect at the time of reentry to the occupation. Foreign Education. To be creditable, education completed outside the U.S. must have been submitted to a private organization that specializes in the interpretation of foreign educational credentials and such education must have been deemed at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. programs Grade Determinations: In addition to the basic requirements, to qualify for the GS-6 grade level requires a minimum of one (1) year experience at the next lower grade level (GS-5).Do you possess the necessary experience equivalent to the GS-6 level? This experience includes: Working collaboratively in an interdisciplinary coordinated care delivery model (i.e. PACT, Specialty Clinics, C& P, Non VA Care) and performs receptionist duties, customer service and other duties assigned for the proper and timely treatment of patients and maintains appointment schedules for all Non VA Care.
