Medical Records Technician (ONSITE)

Salary: $1162 / Week
The Medical Records Technician (MRT) provides support to a facility by organizing, filing, scanning, and maintaining the medical records.
Minimum Requirements:
+ High School degree or equivalent required
+ Excellent organizational skills
+ Knowledge of medical terminology and HIPAA guidelines
+ Minimum of 6 months medical record and clerical experience preferred
+ Current CPR if applicable
+ TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
+ Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
+ Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
+ Must be at least 18 years of age
General Comments
This position requires a Registered Health Information Tech (RHIT) OR
Registered Health Information Admin (RHIA)
“As a custodian of patient medical records, the Health Records Technician 1 enters, verifies, and ensures patient medical information is in compliance with appropriate laws and agency policy. The HRT1 act as an information resource and provide health and/or medical records related information to authorized medical providers, staff and/or third party agents regarding residents and/or patients, in compliance with applicable policies, state and federal requirements and/or regulations. Incumbents assist with reviewing and updating health/medical record retention schedules; coordinating and retrieving information for and responding to public record requests related to health/medical records; assist in the day-to-day delivery, distribution, access, maintenance and retention of manual and/or electronic health/medical forms.”
Duty:
Disclosure, dissemination, and procurement of health information
Tasks include:
Review and process records requests of patient medical, dental, and mental health care information within 15 working days or less of receiving following health record procedures.
Review and process Department staff requests for patient health information by the date requested following health record procedures.
Review and process patient requests to review their health record within 15 working days or less of receiving following health record procedures.
Meet with patients, non-Health Services staff, and other requesters for health record reviews.
Assist requesters in defining the scope of records requested.
Identify and redact information exempt from disclosure.
Request or aid in the request of prior treatment records.
Use forms and tracking mechanisms to record requests/disclosures and actions taken to assure timely, quality service.
