Position Summary:

The purpose of the Health Information Technician is to represent the Medical Records Department by performing exceptional quality customer service and overall support of the medical records file coordination in compliance with federal, state, local requirements, and accreditation, as well as according to hospital policy.

 

Primary Responsibilities: Assist both internal and external customers with exceptional customer service skills. Coordinate loose documentation: Verify loose documentation is part of the medical record. Return documentation that does not belong in the medical record to the appropriate author, department, or disposal method according to hospital policy. File in proper patient’s chart. (paper/electronic) File in proper location of the chart. Chart Tracking system: Locate. File. Retrieve. Out-guide. Process transcription services STAT documentation for timely completion. Prepping, Scanning, Indexing Prep and review documentation to be scanned Scan Documentation into EMR Index scanned pages to the correct patient and account Perform other duties as assigned. Maintain protected chart list

 

Desired Job Qualifications/Skill Sets: High School diploma or equivalent. Knowledge of HIPAA privacy regulations (helpful) Work independently and in a team environment. Strong auditory, verbal and written communication skills. Organize, prioritize and multi-task responsibilities. Strong computer skills.

 

Working Hours/Conditions: Medical Records Department will be closed on Sunday’s and Aultman observed holidays. Moderate physical activity requirements. Subject to frequent interruptions.

 

Physical Activity Requirements: Work Positions Stand – approximately 10%. Walk – approximately 10%. Sit – approximately 80%.
