Medical Records Clerk
Description We are looking for an experienced Medical Records Clerk to join our healthcare team in Long Beach, California. In this long-term contract position, you will play a crucial role in managing and responding to requests for electronic medical records, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with federal requirements. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a dynamic hospital environment while utilizing your expertise in medical records management. Responsibilities: • Process incoming requests for patient medical records and ensure timely delivery of electronic records. • Maintain accurate documentation of all record requests to support compliance with federal Meaningful Use standards. • Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems to manage and organize patient data efficiently. • Conduct thorough reviews of medical records to ensure completeness and accuracy. • Communicate effectively with internal departments and external stakeholders to address record-related inquiries. • Ensure adherence to confidentiality protocols and healthcare regulations when handling sensitive patient information. • Collaborate with the Release of Information department to streamline processes and improve efficiency. • Support outpatient medical record management, including organization and analysis of patient files. • Stay informed about updates in medical records systems and healthcare compliance requirements. Requirements • Proven experience working within a medical records department, preferably in a hospital or healthcare setting. • Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and electronic medical records (EMR) software. • Strong knowledge of medical records analysis and review processes. • Familiarity with healthcare confidentiality protocols and federal compliance standards. • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. • Ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including healthcare professionals and patients. • Experience in handling outpatient medical records is a plus. • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
