Job Title: Medical Office AssistantJob Description The Medical Office Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the healthcare team and ensuring the smooth operation of the medical office. This position involves assisting physicians during exams and procedures, maintaining accurate patient records, and providing excellent patient care and communication. Responsibilities + Assist physician during physical exams and procedures. + Prepare charts for outside physicians with appropriate forms and documentation. + Schedule appointments and request medical information and test results. + Obtain authorizations or referrals as needed. + Maintain patient charts and ensure accurate filing/scanning of information. + Collaborate as a team member and demonstrate commitment to group goals. + Take vitals on all patients, including height, weight, blood pressure, and temperature. + Complete patient history and medication documentation as instructed by the provider. + Perform point of care testing, phlebotomy, and specimen collection. + Assist providers with basic routine tests, injections, and procedures such as ECGs. + Maintain clinical equipment and notify management of any issues or concerns. + Operate equipment safely and competently. + Enter pertinent patient data into EMR as requested by the provider. + Document point of care results accurately to ensure charges are sent by the close of business. + Work within scope and answer patient phone questions, completing refill encounters with proper documentation. + Screen calls and communicate messages accurately and timely. + Restock and prepare exam rooms for the next day according to par levels. + Cover front desk duties while assisting with triage and back office tasks. Essential Skills + Proficiency in medical assisting and Epic software. + Ability to perform phlebotomy and specimen collection. + Strong communication skills for answering phones and screening calls. + Current BLS certification. Additional Skills & Qualifications + High School diploma or equivalent. + One year of back office experience or completion of a formal medical assistant training program. + Certification as a Medical Assistant is preferred. Work Environment The position is located in a Transitional Care Unit that aids patients in their recovery from cancer. The work schedule is Monday through Thursday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Friday from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
