CVP is seeking certified Medical Laboratory Technologists to join our team supporting the VA Public Health National Program Office. In this role, you will perform high-complexity molecular laboratory testing for diagnosis, surveillance, and treatment decision-making in support of critical national biodefense efforts and public health preparedness initiatives.
Pay Range: $40-45/hr
Responsibilities Perform high-complex molecular laboratory testing including pathogen agnostic whole genome sequencing for diagnosis of unknown or emerging pathogensConduct pathogen-specific testing such as antibody/antigen tests, RT-PCR, and Multilocus Sequence Typing (MLST)Execute whole genome sequencing for diagnosis and treatment decision-makingSupport the Whole-of-government USG National Biodefense Strategy-Diagnostics Joint Capabilities PlanParticipate in CDC Laboratory Response Network (LRN) activitiesAssist with VA Public Health preparedness and response requirementsConduct laboratory surveillance, lookback and outbreak investigationsSupport VA response to high consequence infections such as Ebola, mpox, or H5N1 avian influenzaMaintain accurate documentation and records of all testing procedures and resultsEnsure compliance with all laboratory safety protocols and quality assurance standardsParticipate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with evolving technologies and methodologies QualificationsBachelor's or graduate/higher level degree from a regionally accredited college/university including courses in biological science, chemistry and mathematics
Successful completion of a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist program accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
Current certification as a Medical Technologist (MT), Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) from ASCP-BOC, ASCP-BOR, or AMT
Minimum of 2 years' experience in molecular diagnostic testing and advanced laboratory techniques
Experience with next-generation sequencing technologies, PCR techniques, and bioinformatics tools preferred
Ability to successfully undergo a Government sponsored background investigation (US Citizenship Required)
Experience with high-complexity testing and/or public health laboratory work preferred
