Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our dynamic team at an inpatient lab. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing patient samples for testing, determining the acceptability of specimens, and performing a variety of laboratory tests with precision and accuracy.
ResponsibilitiesPrepare patient samples for testing and determine the acceptability of specimens and results.Perform Hematology, Chemistry, and Urinalysis testing.Execute laboratory tests and procedures using techniques such as ELISA, RNA extraction, and flow cytometry.Conduct manual, semi-automated, and automated Biochemical, Hematological, Microbiological, and Blood Bank analysis on various patient specimens.Maintain, calibrate, operate, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.Accurately prepare, label, and store reagents, standards, controls, and specimens for analysis.Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.Participate in quality assurance and quality improvement activities.Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.Recognize normal, abnormal, unusual, and critical results and take appropriate action as per laboratory policy.Verify accuracy of results and initiate corrective action when indicated.Essential SkillsBachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology, or a related science.Certified Medical Technologist (MT), Medical Lab Scientist (MLS), or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) certification.Must have Blood Bank experience.Proficiency in areas such as hematology, clinical chemistry, coagulation, urinalysis, and microscopy.Ability to operate and maintain laboratory instruments.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in a hospital or clinical laboratory environment.Familiarity with laboratory information systems.Strong communication and organizational skills.High level of attention to detail.Ability to work independently and within a team environment.Proven history of reliability and positive attendance.Work Environment
The position is located at a large hospital lab, serving as the central lab for all inpatient samples. The work environment is fast-paced and high-throughput. The schedule is Monday to Friday, 1:00 PM to 9:30 AM, with rotating weekends. The initial contract duration is three months, with potential extensions. The onboarding process includes drug, medical, and background checks, along with employment and education verification. The lab utilizes advanced technologies and equipment in a collaborative team setting. Dress code is professional, suitable for a hospital laboratory environment.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $45.00/hr.
