The PositionYou will be part of our Medical Department, reporting directly to the Therapeutic Area Lead of
Neuroscience and Rare Diseases. Your mission as a Medical Expert will be to drive clinical
practice, generate new knowledge through research, and promote medical education for the
benefit of patients. This involves identifying relevant medical needs and supporting the optimal
use of Roche products and solutions.
The management of neuro-immunological diseases, especially multiple sclerosis (MS) and
neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD), is undergoing a profound transformation. The
emergence of highly effective therapies with innovative mechanisms of action and the
increasing relevance of personalized medicine demands a specialized and proactive medical
strategy. In this context, biomarkers are becoming essential tools to guide therapeutic decisions
and optimize treatment response monitoring. This new position is fundamental to leading the
shift towards more precise and personalized management of neuro-immunological pathologies,
ensuring the adoption and knowledge of these tools. It will allow Roche to position itself as a
leader in the comprehensive approach to neuro-inflammation and neurodegeneration in the
development of future therapies for MS and Alzheimers, in line with a transformative pipeline.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Scientific Strategy Leadership in Biomarkers:
o Lead the scientific and medical strategy to drive a paradigm shift towards a
personalized care approach in MS/NMOSD, based on biomarkers. This includes
anticipating personalized medicine needs and proactively identifying
opportunities and insights to shape the evolution of our biomarker tools, while
providing scientific support for complex treatment decisions based on biomarker
data
o Generate and disseminate scientific knowledge on the relevance of biomarkers
like serum neurofilaments (sNfL) and glial fibrillary acidic protein (sGFAP) in
managing demyelinating diseases, including their association with progression
risk and chronic inflammation
o Align the local medical strategy with the global one for the product and
therapeutic area
o Respond to internal and external medical-scientific inquiries
2. Coordination of Biomarker Strategy:
o Coordinate PHC Partners on all aspects related to the strategy and adoption of
biomarkers in Neurosciences, ensuring cross-functional alignment
o Coordinate with Roche Diagnostics on the biomarker strategy and neurofilament
studies.
o Establish strategic alliances with hospitals and research networks for the
implementation of biomarkers in clinical practice in collaboration with PJPs,
HSPs, and PHCPs
3. Evidence Generation:
o Identify local evidence gaps and develop strategies to address them
o Interface with Scientific Societies and Patient Associations regarding biomarkers
projects
o Design local studies in collaboration with Local Evidence Generation team
o Manage the local publication strategy
Who You Are:
● Bachelors degree in health sciences is required
● Experience in the Medical Department is highly valued
● Experience in Neurology is highly valued
● Research experience is desirable, including experience with scientific publications
● Experience in managing TAEs and establishing/maintaining collaborations with external
organizations
● High proficiency in English and Spanish
● Your residence location is in Madrid
