Leads the daily operations of the medical equipment team. Works with medical providers and insurance payers to provide and bill for medical equipment and supplies. Focuses on quality customer service.Job Responsibilities and Requirements:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Trains, guides, and audits staff on operational policies and procedures. Acts as a primary resource for staff. Assigns duties and leads the daily operations of the team/department. Determines daily workflow changes based on volumes and staffing availability. Responds to and works to resolve patient or referral concerns or complaints. Leads projects, coordinates work across teams, facilitates meetings and assists in audits. Obtains and interprets medical documentation, compares documentation with insurance coverage criteria, and creates orders to provide medical equipment/supplies. Engages in staff duties and covers for other areas. Verifies patient insurance eligibility/benefits and communicates financial responsibilities to patients, caregivers, and other health care providers. Obtains written orders and prior authorization for appropriate equipment/supplies. Reviews, obtains, and logs appropriate medical documentation that supports the reimbursement of equipment/supplies. Performs accurate data entry into operating system and processes orders for appropriate equipment/supplies to ensure delivery and correct billing. Communicates with patients, employees, payers, caregivers, and other health care providers on status of orders. Collects payments from patients for coinsurance, copays, and self-pay items. Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner. Performs other duties as assigned.
