Job Description Summary
Job Summary: The Director of Clinical ONMM has primary responsibility for the ONMM educational experiences of ACOM students in the ACOM clinics. The Director coordinates with the Chair of OPP and the Medical Director(s) of ACOM Clinics to manage the scheduling, supervision, and training of ACOM students and OPP Fellow Scholars in the clinics; and oversees the clinical teaching assignments of ONMM clinical faculty and OPP Fellow Scholars.
Job Description
+ Position Details:
●Manages clinical learning experiences and observation experiences of students including supervision and scheduling of students for the OPP Clinic.
●Coordinates with the Chair of OPP to ensure appropriate student assignments and clinical experiences.
●Meets regularly with other clinical educators, including OPP Fellows, to monitor and evaluate the learning experience and progress.
●Is readily available for consultation when students are in the clinical area.
●Provides ONMM care to clinic patients and involves students and OPP Fellows in patient care as appropriate for their level of knowledge and skill.
●Monitors student and OPP Fellows progress through rounds, student clinical training sessions, one-on-one conferences, and review of student clinical assignments.
●Collaborates with other clinical educators to evaluate students’ and OPP Fellows’ clinical performance and to provide formative feedback to students and OPP Fellows.
●Collaborate and coordinate with the Rural Health Clinic Clerkship Chair to assign students’ grades.
Secondary Role: Associate Professor of Osteopathic Principles and Practice
Position Summary: The Associate Professor is primarily responsible for the educational development of ACOM students. Individuals in these positions work both in and out of the classroom settings to develop and disseminate technical/scientific knowledge to ACOM students. This will motivate them toward their full professional attainment in the medical field. The individuals in these positions are under supervision of their OPP Department Chair.
Duties and Responsibilities:
●Evaluates, develops and delivers course material to ACOM students within the described OPP clinical curriculum;
●Serves as a co-course director in OPP pre-clinical curriculum to include lectures, lab presentations, and practical assessments;
●Contributes to the learning of medical students, graduate students, interns and residents through classroom teaching as well as in one-on-one out of class situations;
●Serves in leadership and membership capacities on college and faculty committees;
●Accepts assignment of students for advising and mentorship;
