Henry Ford Providence Southfield Hospital is looking for a Board-Certified Internal Medicine Physician to serve as the Medical Director of our Internal Medicine Residency Program. This is a great opportunity for the right candidate to partner with Henry Ford Providence Southfield Hospital to precept and teach 39 Internal Medicine residents. Duties include outpatient clinic and inpatient rounding responsibilities.
Position Highlights:
+ Leadership Role
+ ACGME accredited program trains 39 residents over a three-year cycle
+ Opportunity to participate in didactics and lectures
Responsibilities:
+ Leadership of the outpatient resident clinic to ensure an optimal learning experience for the residents
+ Serves as the clinical leader of the practice to meet regulatory standards
+ Evaluates and treats patients with appropriate medical diagnostic and treatment skills
+ Coordinates discharge planning with case management
+ Leads the practice and works to ensure the success of efforts to improve cost effectiveness and quality of care provided to patients.
+ Accepts patient referrals from other physicians.
+ Acts as admitting, attending, and/or consulting physician for patients who require hospitalization for primary medical diagnoses, depending on needs of patients, medical staff and hospital
+ Provides appropriate documentation that meets insurance company requirements; appeal all denials in a timely manner
+ Participates in inpatient and outpatient consultation for specialty, which may include on call schedules
+ Precepts residents
+ Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine residency program required
+ Board Certification in Internal Medicine
+ 5+ years of experience as an Internal Medicine Physician, with prior experience in academic or teaching roles preferred
+ Demonstrated interest or experience in medical education, health services, research, patient safety and quality improvement is highly desirable
