This position will collaborate and act as a liaison between injured team members, plant management, medical providers, and corporate workers compensation to ensure that all necessary information and questions are timely addressed. The position will also ensure injured or ill team members are timely returned to their optimum level of function within the shortest time possible and be responsible for the following functions: maintain a close working relationship with plant health services human resources and operations management; develop individual medical case management plans for injured team members; maintain close relationship with local medical providers who treat injured team members; maintain relationships with injured team members through return to permanent placement or settlement of case if permanent placement available ; initiate permanent place process once permanent medical restrictions are assigned and act as company liaison to explain benefits provided through workers compensation. Detailed duties and objectives will be discussed at the time of the interview as well as expected standards of performance.
REQUIREMENTS: Education: Minimum academic preparations include completion in an accredited registered school of nursing (RN) program or certification in an accredited vocational rehabilitation field. Commission of Case Management Certification CCMC-CCM or American Board of Occupational Health Nursing ABOHN-CM certification required upon hire or within 18 months of hire.
Experience: Minimum 2 years’ experience in Occupational Health Nursing preferred. Knowledge of state workers compensation regulations.
Computer Skills: Basic computer skills.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong people skills; must be capable of communicating well both verbally and in writing with all levels of Team Members from hourly to upper management as well as government officials.
Special Skills: Commission of Case Management Certification CCMC-CCM or American Board of Occupational Health Nursing ABOHN-CM certification required upon hire or within 18 months of hire. Must complete two continuing education programs per year related to occupational health nursing.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to sit, stand, and walk during duty. May be subject to blood borne pathogens and other infections illness and occasional hazardous materials; physically able to respond timely to emergency situations at the facility.
Supervisory: None
Travel: Minimum of 1-3 trips per year outside of assigned location as well as frequent travel locally to meet with medical providers as well as regular visits to team members due to in or outpatient hospital stays.
