Description We are looking for an experienced Medical Billing Specialist to join our team on a 12-week contract basis. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring accurate and timely processing of healthcare claims while maintaining compliance with insurance and government regulations. This position is based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and offers a great opportunity to apply your expertise in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Responsibilities: • Review patient accounts and billing data to ensure accuracy and completeness. • Prepare and submit claims using UB04 and CMS1500 formats in compliance with payer-specific requirements. • Identify and correct billing errors, resubmitting claims as needed to secure timely payments. • Manage follow-ups on unpaid or denied claims, collaborating with payers and internal teams to resolve issues. • Ensure adherence to billing compliance standards, including Medicare and Medicaid regulations. • Communicate with clinical and administrative staff to gather information necessary for precise billing. • Utilize medical billing systems, such as Epic, to process claims efficiently. • Monitor accounts receivable and manage appeals for denied claims. • Handle authorization processes to meet payer requirements. • Maintain organized records of billing activities to support audits and reporting. Requirements • Minimum of 3 years of experience in medical billing with a focus on healthcare claims. • Proficiency in UB04 and CMS1500 billing formats. • Strong knowledge of ICD-10 coding and familiarity with Epic medical billing systems. • Proven understanding of insurance claims processes and billing compliance standards. • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills. • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines. • Dependable and organized with strong communication skills. • Certification in medical billing or coding is a plus.
