Medical Billing Specialist
Description We are looking for an experienced Medical Billing Specialist to join our team on a 12-week contract basis in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of healthcare claims processing, supporting timely reimbursements and maintaining high standards in billing operations. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute your expertise in a dynamic healthcare environment. Responsibilities: • Review and analyze patient accounts and billing data to ensure accuracy within the designated billing system. • Prepare and submit claims using UB04 and CMS1500 billing formats, adhering to payer-specific guidelines. • Identify and resolve billing discrepancies by correcting errors and resubmitting claims for timely payment. • Conduct follow-ups on unpaid or denied claims, collaborating with payers and internal teams to address issues. • Ensure compliance with insurance and government regulations, including Medicare and Medicaid requirements. • Communicate effectively with clinical and administrative staff to gather necessary information for accurate billing. • Utilize your knowledge of medical billing systems and processes to optimize claims handling and reimbursement. • Maintain organized records and documentation to track claims progress and outcomes. • Stay updated on payer rules and billing compliance standards to ensure adherence to industry requirements. Requirements • Minimum of 3 years of experience in medical billing, with expertise in ICD-10 coding and claims processes. • Proficiency in using UB04 and CMS1500 billing formats. • Familiarity with medical billing systems, such as Epic, and related software. • Strong understanding of accounts receivable, appeals, and authorization processes. • Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills to identify and correct billing errors. • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines. • Knowledge of insurance regulations and compliance requirements, including Medicare and Medicaid. • Effective communication and organizational skills to coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.
