Medical Billing Specialist
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to join our team in Raleigh, North Carolina. In this Contract-to-permanent position, you will play a key role in managing medical claims, ensuring accuracy in billing processes, and providing excellent customer service to patients. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the efficiency of healthcare operations within a dynamic and supportive environment. Responsibilities: • Submit claims electronically or via paper forms while ensuring accuracy and compliance with payer requirements. • Follow up on denied or rejected claims, resolve issues, and resubmit for payment. • Document claim denials and rejections, providing feedback on process improvements to enhance accuracy. • Prepare appeal letters and gather necessary documentation to support claim appeals. • Post electronic and manual payments accurately in medical billing software. • Verify claims for completeness and resolve issues such as duplicate tickets or incorrect modifiers. • Review patient charts for proper coding and identify opportunities for additional revenue. • Ensure patient demographic and insurance information is accurate and complete. • Respond to patient inquiries regarding balances and assist with processing statements for uncovered charges. • Track and report claim errors and compliance metrics to support workflow improvements. Requirements • Proven experience in medical billing and claims processing within the healthcare industry. • Strong knowledge of medical coding, insurance verification, and claims administration. • Proficiency in billing software such as athenahealth, Epic, or eClinicalWorks. • Familiarity with handling claim denials, appeals, and collections processes. • Ability to analyze documentation to ensure accuracy and identify revenue opportunities. • Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients and resolving inquiries. • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. • Experience with accounts receivable and benefit functions related to healthcare billing.
