Medical Biller/Collections Specialist
Description We are looking for a skilled Medical Biller/Collections Specialist to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Eagan, Minnesota. This role involves handling a variety of billing and collections tasks specific to mental health services, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all processes. Responsibilities: • Prepare, review, and submit precise insurance claims for mental health services through electronic or paper submission methods. • Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits prior to initiating billing processes. • Accurately post payments, adjustments, and denials to patient accounts. • Investigate and resolve unpaid or denied claims, addressing any discrepancies in billing. • Stay updated on relevant medical codes and regulations, ensuring compliance with all standards. • Coordinate with insurance providers, healthcare professionals, and patients to resolve billing-related issues. • Generate and distribute patient statements while establishing payment arrangements as needed. • Ensure adherence to state, federal, and organizational billing regulations. • Maintain organized and detailed billing records, preparing reports as required. Requirements • Proven experience in medical billing and collections, specifically in mental health services. • Strong knowledge of insurance verification processes and disability claims. • Familiarity with medical codes, including ICD-10, and billing regulations. • Ability to manage hospital billing, appeals, and denials efficiently. • Excellent communication skills for interacting with insurance companies, providers, and patients. • Proficiency in handling medical claims and resolving billing discrepancies. • Detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining accurate records and compliance. • Experience with generating reports and managing payment arrangements.
