Medical Associate
**Work Schedule** 12 hr shift/days **Environmental Conditions** Some degree of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) required (safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs etc.) **Job Description** Be part of a team implementing groundbreaking research and medical practices, ensuring subjects' well-being. **Essential Functions and Other Job Information:** Essential Functions + Act as the primary safety contact for all study subjects in the clinic. + Provide basic medical care (within scope of practice) to study subjects, addressing both emergent and non-emergent needs. + Monitor and record Adverse Events (AEs), review active AEs prior to dosing, and determine subject safety in consultation with medical staff. Confer with Paramedic, operational management, and physician/investigator as needed. + Perform technical procedures including blood collection, vital signs, and ECGs. + Assess out-of-range values for symptomology and medically intervene if subject safety is in question. + Coordinate basic dosing methods, including oral, inhalation, and nasal. **Job Complexity** Work on semi-routine assignments, recognizing the need for occasional deviation from accepted practice. **Job Knowledge** Apply acquired job skills and company policies to complete assigned tasks. **Supervision Received** Follow established procedures on routine work, requiring instructions only on new assignments. **Business Relationships** Typically interact with individuals within the department and occasionally with contacts outside the organization, involving the exchange of information or data. **Qualifications:** Education and Experience + High/secondary school diploma or equivalent with relevant formal academic/vocational qualification. + Certified or licensed EMT/LVN or Medical Associate and American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required in the state/municipality of employment. **Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities** + Proficient in Basic Life Support. + Strong interpersonal skills with attention to detail. + Excellent verbal and written communication skills. + Ability to manage multiple complex tasks and potential emergency medical situations effectively. **Management Role** No management responsibility. **Working Conditions and Environment** + Work performed in an office or clinical environment. + Exposure to electrical office equipment, bio-hazardous material, infectious diseases, and/or illnesses. + Requires personal protective equipment such as eyewear, garments, and gloves. + Frequently works long hours, varying shifts, weekends, and holidays, often at a fast pace under time constraints. + Requires frequent mobility and occasional crouching, stooping, bending, and twisting. **Physical Requirements** + Stationary for 1-2 hours per day with repetitive hand movements. + Light to moderate lifting and carrying, max 15-20 lbs. + Ability to use various computer software and communicate information clearly.
