Job Summary
Employees in this part-time temporary role will be responsible for providing MA float coverage to the Primary Care segment of UMMG and specialty sites as appropriate. The Primary Care segment has multiple Ambulatory Care Units (ACUs) that are Patient Centered Medical Home clinics and provide team-based care to patients. The mission of the primary care ACUs is to provide timely, high-quality, evidence-based, empathetic care to a population of diverse patients while also upholding the academic mission of Michigan Medicine through the education of medical students and residents. We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Medical Assistant to join our team. Responsibilities*Work directly with providers and their care team to deliver excellent and timely patient careEnsure efficient patient flow in a fast-paced primary care outpatient settingComplete patient intake including taking vitals, obtain medical and surgical history and document chief complaintReconcile outside records and document clinical information in patient chart in electronic medical recordAssist providers with point of care alerts for overdue servicesAssist with minor clinical and diagnostic procedures and treatmentsProvide clinical assistance by performing immunization/medication administration, EKGs, bench testing and procedures as necessaryAssist with obtaining medication prior authorizationsRequired Qualifications*Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program OR an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.Candidate must demonstrate team effort, be able to work independently, have good organization skills.Candidate must have an excellent attendance record, but also be flexible in assignment and work scheduleDesired Qualifications*Certified as medical assistant. Experience working with Epic. Understanding of university policies and procedures. Work ScheduleWork Schedule: Hours: Part-time, minimum of 12 hours/week
Shifts: Varies, Monday - Saturday with late evenings
Weekly schedule: Minimum of two 4-hour sessions and participation in a Saturday rotation schedule
Work LocationsPrimary Care Clinics are located throughout the Michigan Medicine network.
Primary clinic assignment(s) are driven by the needs of the primary care segment and selected candidates. Other specialty Sites as assigned.
