Summary: Medical Assistants (MAs) play a vital role in both direct and indirect patient care. They support scheduled and walk-in visits by rooming patients, collecting clinical data, updating medical records, and performing tasks like immunizations, EKGs, and sample collection. They also assist with in-office procedures. Behind the scenes, MAs manage patient communication, process medication refills, relay test results, and handle other administrative tasks to ensure smooth clinic operations.
Schedule: Our clinics are open Monday-Friday, with hours between 7am and 5:30pm. We are closed on weekends, nights, and holidays. Staff schedules are built around our provider’s schedules to support our patients.
EDUCATION: High school graduate, HiSET or GED equivalent preferred.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY: Requires successful completion of a National Certified Medical Assistant program within 6 months of hire or current National Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) designation. Current and valid BLS certification required and re-certification every two years.
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: 1 year of healthcare experience preferred.
Clinic Visits and Patient Intake: Medical Assistants (MAs) collaborate closely with the care team to support both scheduled and walk-in patient visits. This involves warmly greeting patients, collecting and verifying clinical data such as vital signs, health history, and medication lists, and ensuring accurate updates to the medical record. MAs also administer appropriate screening tools as part of comprehensive patient care. Additional tasks may include administering immunizations, performing EKGs, and collecting blood and urine samples for Point-of-Care Testing. MAs often assist providers with in-office procedures, ensuring patients are informed and comfortable throughout the process.
