The 73-bed hospital is one of the most technologically advanced hospitals in the region. Responsibilities Bariatric Medical Assistant is a multi-faceted position consisting of customer service, insurance verification, registration, payment collection and data entry and referrals. Performs selected nursing and clerical duties that assist in patient care management. Responsible for ensuring patient flow, medical record availability and completeness, scheduling physician/provider appointments and maintenance of physician appointment schedules, assisting the physician during patient exams and performing all necessary follow-up in a timely and accurate manner while exhibiting quality care. Receives and greets patients and visitors, ascertaining their needs and assisting them in a timely and courteous manner. Answers telephone promptly in a customer friendly manner. Collects and verifies accurate patient information and enters into registration system. Receives payment for services and correctly completes charge slips for data entry. Must be knowledgeable of medical terminology, routine office procedures and medical instruments. Must be skilled in the taking of vital signs. Gives medications and knows the five rights of medication administration. Screens phone calls from patients for the provider. Committed to being a team player by performing all duties as required or assigned to provide quality patient care. Identifies and recommends improvements in work procedures. Consistently promote good customer service and effective working relationships, both internally and externally. The individual will also have responsibility to uphold the policies and procedures of Hillcrest Healthcare System. Qualifications Job Requirements: High School or Equivalent RMA or CMA (upon hire) BLS (upon hire)
