Schedule: Full Time Monday - Friday 8:30 am to 5 pm

Location: 630 E. North Ave, Carol Stream, IL

The role youll contribute:

Assists the physician in providing medical care to patients of various ages according to the policy of individual practice, in accordance with professional standards and hospital policies and procedures. Adheres to all the rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. Responsible for helping practice and physician achieve all meaningful use measures. Demonstrates effective use and support of the Customer and Superior Service Standards, within the hospital and physician office settings, at all times. Functions under the supervision of the physician and the Practice Manager/Office Supervisor.

Performs initial response-screening following protocols under the direction of the supervising physician. Performs initial and ongoing assessment of patients, utilizing established guidelines. Responsible for helping practice and physician achieve all meaningful use measures. Cleans, prepares and maintains examinations rooms and treatment areas. Prepares patients for examinations, procedures and treatments. Assists with examinations, procedures, and treatments. Prepares and administers oral and parenteral (excluding IV) medications and immunizations as directed by supervising physician and as permitted by state law. Maintains medication and immunization records Organize and review incoming test results and forward to physician. Tracks impending test results. Follows up with patients as needed. Recognizes and responds to emergencies Performs CLIA-waived tests. Prepares specimens for outside lab testing, as ordered by the physician. May provide specialized care in iatrogenic injuries and podiatric disease and disorders Performs electrocardiography and respiratory testing. Performs phlebotomy, including venipuncture and capillary puncture Maintains responsibility for clinical aspect of practice * Assumes responsibility for inventory of clinical supplies, ensuring adequate levels are kept, and organized, on an ongoing basis. Unpacks and verifies proper receipt of supplies, handling any necessary returns or rejections. * Provides control and maintenance of bio-hazardous waste and sharps * Checks sample medications for overstocking and date of expiration. Labels samples according to protocol before they are dispensed to patients. Logs in, and disposes of, sample medications according to policy. * Manually cleans dirty instruments and packages instruments for sterilization. * Utilizes autoclave and biological indicators, as per policy. * Ensures proper consents are signed prior to a procedure * Ensures Summary List is completed and updated each visit Schedules patients inpatient/outpatient admissions and procedures Relieves other staff members as requested by the supervisor.

Periodic Duties: * Is cross-trained in all front desk positions and substitutes for staff, as needed. * Is responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring policies and procedures directly related to departmental services. * Is responsible for reviewing and updating departmental policies and procedures on an annual basis. * Performs special projects, other duties and chairs committees as assigned.

Irregular Duties: * Responsibilities include the assurance that the supervisor and staff adhere to the Corporate Compliance Plan, to the rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies, and to the standards of all accrediting bodies.

May travel to patient homes

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

High School Grad or Equiv Required

Technical/Vocational School completed an accredited Medical Assistant program with completion of an externship Required

Candidate must also be proficient and possess current working knowledge in the use of MS Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Internet.

Must be proficient in the English language.

Must be able to adapt easily to changes in the work environment.

Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, inter-personal and organizational skills are also required.

Job duties require self-motivation and persistence; along with strict, self-imposed time management and using discernment when prioritizing projects and daily workload. Seeks further education and personal growth

Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) Required and

American Association Medical Assistants (AAMA) Required or

American Medical Technologists (AMT) Required or

National Center for Competency Testing - Tech in Surgery Certified (NCCT-TSC) Required or

National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Required or

National Association of Health Professionals (NAHP) Required or

National Association for Healthcare Professionals-Medical Asst (NRCMA) Required or

American Medical Certification Association (AMCA) Required or

American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA) Required
