Job Title: Medical Assistant Job Description As a Medical Assistant, you will play a key role in both front and back office functions within a urology office. You will be responsible for scheduling appointments, greeting patients, updating insurance information, performing phlebotomy and blood draws, and processing specimens for laboratory processing using a centrifuge. You will provide compassionate care to patients, update patient information including family histories and previous visit notes, and support back office functions. Additional duties include preparing charts prior to patient visits, preparing patient rooms, performing vital checks, medication reconciliation, completing prior authorizations, restocking rooms and supply closets, managing inventory, and triaging phone calls for physicians or patient questions. You will also update electronic medical records using EPIC. Responsibilities + Rotate between front and back office functions. + Schedule appointments and greet patients. + Update insurances and patient information. + Perform phlebotomy and blood draws. + Process specimens and prepare for laboratory processing. + Use centrifuge to spin blood samples. + Provide compassionate care to patients. + Support back office functions such as patient intakes and room loading. + Perform vital checks and medication reconciliation. + Prepare charts and patient rooms prior to visits. + Complete prior authorizations and manage inventory. + Restock rooms and supply closets. + Triage phones for any physician or patient questions. + Update electronic medical record using EPIC. Essential Skills + Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) with an accredited diploma from a medical assisting school. + Minimum of 1-year experience as a medical assistant, open to recent graduates. + Experience with phlebotomy and blood draw. + Comfortable working in a urology practice. + Proficiency in EPIC and athena electronic medical records. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. + Willingness to learn and adapt. Work Environment The work environment is a high-volume urology office, seeing 80-100 patients per day, with each physician attending to 20-50 patients daily. You will be required to multitask efficiently across both clinical (60%) and administrative (40%) duties. Expect a flexible 40-hour workweek from Monday to Friday, with shifts starting as early as 7:30 am and ending as late as 6:00 pm, depending on the doctor's schedule. This role demands flexibility with no exceptions to availability. This position is moving extremely fast as this is an urgent need for the client.
