Medical Assistant
The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity within the Montana State Hospital. The Medical Assistant performs administrative and clinical tasks in support of the medical clinic and patient care. The medical assistant's position includes, but is not limited to, performing Electrocardiogram (EKG) tests, provides dental assistance, completing sterilization techniques, completing specimen collection, completing diagnostic testing, taking vital signs, and providing patient care. The medical assistant establishes and maintains patient records and communicates with a diverse population regarding disease prevention, health maintenance, community resources, and physician instructions. In addition, DPHHS is the largest state agency with a wide range of advancement opportunities whether you are joining the workforce or have several years of experience. *Qualifications for this Career Opportunity* *Required for the first day of work:* • Ability to utilize Excel and Word programs. • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form. • Ability to utilize medical terminology. • Ability to always maintain confidentiality. • Ability to analyze, assemble, and organize information. • Ability to utilize medical equipment in a medical clinic environment. • Working knowledge of infection control practices. • Working knowledge of office procedures including scheduling, billing, and coding. • Working knowledge of sterilization processes, operation of autoclaves and maintenance/quality control of medical equipment typically found in a medical clinic environment. *Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience):* • One year experience as a medical assistant. • Certification as a medical assistant required. • Certification in phlebotomy preferred. • Other combinations of related education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis. *How to Apply* To be considered for a DPHHS position, submit the following required documents with your application on the State of Montana Careers website.
