Position: Full-Time Medical Assistant Schedule: Monday through Friday, daylight hours No evenings, weekends, or holidays are required!In this role, you will assist physicians with patient care, including clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks, take vital signs, register patients, schedule testing, exams, and treatments, maintain stocked supplies, and ensure clean exam rooms.

Responsibilities:
Check schedules and organize patient flow Accompany patients to exam/procedure rooms Assist patients with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, and exam preparation Collect patient information/history, take vitals, and perform screenings per provider guidelines Relay instructions to patients and families Answer calls and provide pertinent information, including patient education Prepare patient rooms and set up instruments and equipment following department protocol Clean exam/procedure rooms, instruments, and equipment between visits for infection control Follow scheduled maintenance program and maintain cleaning records Manage inventory of supplies and restock exam/procedure rooms Send and receive medical records in accordance with HIPAA and other regulations Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and level one labs Perform clinic procedures according to policy Assist physicians with procedures Document patient information in medical records Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, and referral information Complete forms and requisitions as needed Schedule patient appointments Verify insurance coverage and update patient demographics Prepare and manage charts to ensure accurate documentation Support various front office responsibilities as required Administer injectable medications and vaccines under physician supervision Comply with OSHA, CLIA, and PA Department of Health regulations Maintain strict confidentiality of medical records and other sensitive data Follow all UPMC Health System policies and procedures
