ChristianaCare Palliative Care is looking for a Medical Assistant.
ChristianaCare Palliative Care is located at the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center and Research Institute, Suite 2121 in Newark, Delaware. This Medical Assistant will also be providing remote support for the Cecil Campus and Medical Arts Pavilion II practices, as well.
Palliative care is a crucial aspect of healthcare, providing comfort and support to patients with advanced chronic and serious illnesses. ChristianaCare's interdisciplinary team aims to address fears, reduce pain, and improve quality of life by promoting communication, continuity, and coordination of care. They also assist patients in making medical decisions, including medication recommendations and referrals.

Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday from 8am to 4:30pmDuties / Responsibilities:
As a medical assistant you will be involved with greeting and supporting patients both virtually and on-site within the practice, preparing them for virtual visits, performing point of care testing, injections, medication administration, and EKGs, assisting clinicians with examinations and procedures, preparing exam/treatment rooms with necessary supplies and equipment, completing patient-specific paperwork, ensuring EMR is up-to-date, handling patient call backs, sterilizing medical equipment, handling prior authorizations, referrals, and medical refills, scheduling tests, procedures, and surgeries, performing quality control on POCT equipment, providing documentation assistance, performing clerical duties, troubleshooting patient issues with video visits, and supporting patients in joining ChristianaCare's Patient Portal. This position has a large administrative component to it. The successful candidate will have a passion for comprehensive patient care and a desire to support medically complex patients with life limiting diagnoses as they navigate their health challenges.

Education Requirements:
High School Graduate or GED required.A graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant Program or hold current Medical Assistant Certification by a national organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
