Facilitates movement of patients and family through the Clinic. Prepares patients and patient records for exam. Management and documentation of patient medical records. Assists the clinical staff when necessary. Qualifications: Required: + High School diploma or equivalent required + BLS Healthcare License Current + Successful completion of all Orientation Program Certifications and Licenses Required: + Certification as a Medical Assistant from a recognized medical assistant training center Essential Functions: + They ensure all open lines of communication between patients, staff and physicians with demonstrated professionalism, efficiency and confidentiality + Answers telephone in a professional and efficient manner. Directs all clinical calls to a nurse or physician. Documents phone messages accurately with the correct time and date, person calling and reason for the call. + Assists as needed with Patient charts are pulled a day in advance of appointments and updated with forms as necessary. Current dictations and test results are inserted into the charts. + Assists in the consenting and processing of research patients. + Assists with Daily preparation of patient charts for physician consultation and exam in accordance with Center policies. + File patient charts in file room by the end of each day. Secure all charts in locked areas at the end of the day. + Maintains sensitivity, privacy and confidentiality when interacting with all patients and their family members. + Monitoring and stocking of exam room for physician exam. + Participates in and completes all mandatory and unit based competency performance evaluations as required by the department and the institution. + Patient charts are obtained for purposes of return phone calls by MD and prescription refills. Messages are appropriately attached to the patient chart for MD/RN review. + Performs all other related duties as requested by the physician, nurse and/or Practice Manager. + Preparation of exam room for physician exam. + Preparation of patient for physician exam. This includes escort of patient into room and obtaining vital signs per MD routine. + Responsible to secure desk coverage when duties require absence from patient area. + Upon receipt of diagnostic results, pulls charts and presents.
