The Role & What You Will Be Doing

As part of the Viatris Medical Affairs team, this hybrid role combines the scientific engagement of a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) with the strategic contributions of a Medical Advisor. The purpose is to:

Enhance medical communication between Viatris and healthcare professionals (HCPs), therapeutic experts, and researchers.

Contribute to the medical strategy and cross-functional alignment for assigned therapeutic areas and products.

Support clinical and outcomes research development, including facilitation of investigator-initiated studies and site selection.

Disseminate accurate, balanced, and up-to-date scientific information to internal and external stakeholders.

Provide strategic and scientific input into marketing campaigns, training, and material review.

Ensure alignment with corporate compliance standards and applicable regulations.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

Engage in meaningful, proactive, and reactive scientific exchange with HCPs, including Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), on disease areas and Viatris’ products.

Identify unmet medical needs and share relevant insights with internal stakeholders.

Develop strong, long-term relationships with KOLs, researchers, academic institutions, and medical societies.

Act as a liaison between national and regional experts and the company to support medical strategy execution.

Provide scientific support for local promotional campaigns and review scientific content of promotional materials and external communications.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams (marketing, access, regulatory, etc.) to align medical strategy with business objectives.

Support the development of educational materials and scientific training sessions for internal teams.

Prepare and deliver product and disease area training to internal teams.

Coordinate and contribute to the organization of medical events, speaker trainings, round tables, advisory boards, and congresses.

Monitor the therapeutic landscape and analyze scientific literature to keep the organization informed of relevant trends and data.

Support the development and execution of local research initiatives from study concept to publication.

About Your Skills & Experience

For this role, we’re looking for a candidate who has an effective combination of the following qualifications, skills and experiences:

Preferably an MD, PharmD, or degree in a relevant life sciences discipline (Pharmacy, Biology, Biotechnology, Medical Analytics, etc.).

Minimum 1 year as an MSL or 1 year in a similar Medical Advisor or Medical Affairs position in the pharmaceutical industry and proven experience in medical communication and relationship-building with KOLs.

Familiarity with clinical research processes, scientific publication standards, and medical governance principles.

Knowledge of national and European regulations related to medical activities and promotional compliance.

Advanced understanding of clinical data, scientific publications, and the healthcare environment.

Strong strategic thinking and ability to translate complex science into clinically relevant information.

Excellent oral and written communication skills in Spanish and English.

Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work cross-functionally and independently.

High level of integrity and professional ethics.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital tools used in medical affairs.

Ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Willingness to travel up to 70% of the time.
